SRV Ayurvedic Hospital, in its initial form, was founded in 1908 — the beginning of a journey guided by vision, learning and service.
The journey commenced with the visionary Kunji Raman Vaidyar from Sree Rama Vilasam, renowned for his Gurukula education in West Travancore. His son, Dr. K. Govindan — Vaidyakalanidhi, Rtd C.M.O, I.S.M — a distinguished government retiree, continued this legacy, being a notable physician in his own right.
His son-in-law, Dr. Atma Gopi, D.A.M, Rtd S.M.O, I.S.M, of the Thekkadathu family, also hailed from a lineage deeply rooted in traditional Ayurveda, and later took on the mantle of leading the hospital. Dr. Atma Gopi carried a profound Ayurvedic lineage inherited from his father, the esteemed Government Grant Physician Krishnan Vaidhyan of Thekkedath.
Building on this heritage, Dr. Atma Gopi initiated the Dharma Hospital, a founding endeavour characterised by extensive charitable initiatives and philanthropy. Notably, Dharma Hospital seamlessly integrated into the fabric of SRV Hospital, consolidating its legacy of benevolence and community service within the broader framework of the institution.
SRV Ayurvedic Hospital is now steered by the capable hands of Dr. Lekshmi Devi. S, B.A.M.S, MD, and her mother, K. J. Suma Devi — ushering in a fourth generation dedicated to the seamless fusion of tradition and modernity in holistic healing practices.
